A much-needed clarification has arrived regarding the Amazfit T-Rex 3 and which features it will or won’t get following the launch of the Pro version. Both watches use the same internal health sensor hardware, yet the standard version shipped without BioCharge, scuba tools, and some other tools, which led to confusion among owners.
BioCharge is on the roadmap
The best news is that BioCharge, the new recovery metric built into the Pro model, will also be coming to the regular T-Rex 3. Although the feature wasn’t included at launch, a representative of Zepp Health has confirmed on Reddit that development is underway to bring it to the standard version in a future update.
Apparently, the feature is still going through internal testing and development work to ensure it works properly on the older software base. There’s no official ETA yet, but the plan is to bring it to the regular model. The rollout will likely be similar to how BioCharge was added to the Balance 2 after launch.
Scuba features also expected
Another set of tools that are currently exclusive to the Pro version are the scuba diving features. These too are now expected to arrive on the standard T-Rex 3. Again, there’s no confirmed timeline. Development is ongoing to make sure everything works correctly before release.

The clarification makes it clear that the standard model has not been sidelined. The features are just arriving in stages.
Route planning already works
The company also confirmed that route planning is already supported on the T-Rex 3 through the Zepp Health app. You can open the app, go to Workout, tap Create Route, and sync it with the watch. This allows you to plan ahead for outdoor runs or hikes and follow turn-by-turn guidance directly from the device.
This is not a Pro-only feature and is already live.
T-Rex 3 Pro is not replacing the regular model
Perhaps most importantly, the T-Rex 3 Pro is not a replacement for the standard version. It is a new addition to the lineup. The company reiterated that it has no intention of forcing upgrades or locking features to newer hardware. Both versions will continue to receive software support.
What will be interesting to see is if the regular T-Rex 3 gets support for ZeppOS 5.0. It already runs on the Pro iteration, while the older device is on 4.5. We are assuming the latest version of the operating system will be available on both devices.
Regardless, these clarifications should offer some peace of mind to those who recently bought the regular T-Rex 3 and were concerned that they had been left behind. More features are coming, but they’ll roll out gradually.
