Zepp Health has just added its BioCharge feature to the Amazfit Balance 2 with the new 3.22.0.4 software update. Until now, only the Helio Strap offered this rolling energy tracking tool, but Balance 2 users can now join in.
What is BioCharge and how does it work
BioCharge is Zepp Health’s latest attempt to make daily recovery metrics more dynamic and user-friendly. If you have used the Helio Strap, the approach will be familiar. The app tracks your body’s energy level as it rises and falls throughout the day. Energy drops when you are active, and recharges while you sleep or rest.
This system replaces the old Readiness Score. Rather than giving you a once-a-day number when you wake up, BioCharge shows your energy ebb and flow in real time.
It splits things into two main parts: Sleep Recharge, which tracks how well you top up your energy overnight, and Daily Events, which chart how much you are burning through with work, workouts or stress. The end result is a simple line graph that helps you spot patterns in your day and maybe catch yourself before a crash.

You will notice the resemblance to Garmin’s Body Battery. Zepp Health is not shy about taking inspiration, and the comparison is obvious. But the reality is that this kind of rolling energy score does seem to connect with how most people actually feel through the day. Sometimes a morning can start out strong, only to fizzle after lunch. A feature that lets you watch this in real time could nudge you toward smarter breaks or better bedtimes.
Other additions and tweaks in the update
The Balance 2 firmware update is a bit more than just BioCharge. You get second-level continuous heart rate monitoring, which can catch more subtle shifts when you are exercising or under stress. The update also brings a segmented view and reminders for navigation waypoints, helping you keep your route clear during outdoor activities. Golf mode is now unlocked worldwide.
There are a handful of smaller upgrades as well. Vibration settings are now more customizable, workout unlock is easier with wrist-raise support, and the jump rope reminders are a bit smarter. Freedivers get fuller data displays, swimmers benefit from better heart rate accuracy, and those who head to high places get improved altitude information.

The move from readiness to energy tracking
BioCharge replacing the Readiness Score is the most notable shift here. The old approach gave you a static score first thing in the morning. The new one lives on your wrist all day. While Readiness had its fans, BioCharge brings a rolling story of your body’s energy, for better or worse.
It is worth noting this update pushes the Balance 2 closer to the Helio Strap in feature set. If you own the device, this update is worth installing just to play with the new BioCharge view and see if it actually fits with how you feel across the day.
