Route planning goes live in Zepp Health app for Amazfit watches

Zepp Health has released a new feature in its iOS app that allows users to create and sync routes directly to their Amazfit watch. The addition arrives with version 9.12.1 of the smartphone app.

Create and send routes from the app

The route planning tool can be found in the workout section of the Zepp Health app. A new button labelled “Create Route” opens an interactive map. You can plot a path by tapping along roads or trails, and the app calculates total distance, elevation gain, along with descent as you go. This gives users a live view of what to expect from the route.

The elevation profile shown during route creation could help users avoid surprises when heading out for a run or hike. It also hints at potential integration with existing training metrics like PAI, VO2 Max estimates, or workout load. Whether that comes in future updates remains to be seen, but the framework is starting to take shape.

Once the route is saved, a “Send to device” option becomes available. Selecting it prompts the app to download the necessary map data for the area, ensuring that the route can be followed on your watch without relying on a mobile connection. The process appears to be pretty straightforward.

As you can see in the screenshots, the route information includes location, elevation graph and total metrics. The map interface looks similar to what the app already offers for workout summaries, now adapted for pre-planned activities.

Based on the current layout, the feature appears to be aimed at road use rather than trail running or mountaineering. It remains unclear whether Zepp Health will expand on this.

Only available on iOS

At the time of writing, this feature has only been confirmed on the iOS version of the Zepp Health app. It has not yet appeared on Android. The changelog for version 9.12.1 highlights the new route planning tool, alongside general stability improvements.

The company has a launch event scheduled for September 5th, so this addition may be part of the groundwork for whatever is announced that day. For now, the functionality looks fairly simple, but it sets the stage for a more complete navigation experience in the Zepp Health platform.

Amazfit watches already support route navigation for imported files, so this update is more about convenience than capability. Integrating the process inside the Zepp Health app should lower the barrier for users who avoided route syncing because of extra steps.
